Weekend Kitchen Tip – Bag It

Double Bag chicken wings

Double Bag your marinades.

This is a simple kitchen tip that can save you from having a big mess and your kids learning new words.  Have you ever put something into a plastic bag to marinate only to find it leaked all over the refrigerator?  It’s happened to me.  What a mess that was to clean up.  To avoid this problem double bag your marinade.  Double the protection from a mess.

Here I have my Jerk Chicken Wings marinating.  They were in the refrigerator for 24 hours soaking up all that great taste.  It was great to grab them out of the refrigerator and not find a mess waiting to be cleaned up.  All I had to do was cook and eat.  They were great.  It’s also an easy clean up.

Have a great weekend and if you’re marinating, double bag it.

Great idea! And, Yes, I have had it leak all over the refrigerator and out onto the floor. Messy, indeed!

Heather- I hate when that happens. Every time I think I can get away with it, I'm wrong.

Oh, yeah, been there, done that. If I'm home, I just set the marinade bag in a glass baking dish or on a deep tray to catch any possible leakage. I don't want a mess, but I have this guilt thing about using too much disposable plastic, too. If we're camping and I prep ahead of time, I definitely double bag in the cooler.

Shirley- Like the baking dish idea. I reuse the outside bag if there was no leakage. If I double bag I usually don't have the problem but as soon as I think it won't leak, it does.
