Menu Plan Monday -July 27

CSA Week 4

CSA Week 4

The last week of July and you may notice I don’t have a complete week’s menu here.   You’ll just have to wait for the August menu to find out what’s cooking for the weekend.  I hope you have enjoyed July and are looking forward to August.  Don’t forget to have some summer fun and get yourself to the farmers markets for fresh produce.  If you don’t know where the closest market is to you, use the Farmer Market Finder  in the right hand column of this blog.  Happy shopping!

Monday- Beef and Noodles

Tuesday- Salmon with Scapes and Quinoa

Wednesday- Duck Burgers

Thursday- Pesto Shrimp on Polenta Portobellos

Friday- Freezer leftovers

Great photo! My CSA pickup day is today. I won't have potatoes yet, but I'm thinking we're getting close to tomato time. Cherries, I've been bombarded with cherries — no complaining though! They are SO good. Your pesto shrimp recipe looks wonderful. I'll have to try that this week.

    Peace and veggies,

    Melissa

Melissa- Thank you for the compliment. Lucky you, I love cherries. They are not grown where I live very often. Maybe some folks have cherry trees but usually not the kind you eat. At least I've never seen cherries on them. Hope you have a great week!

What a wonderful photo, Diane! You've got such a great eye! What are the green gourd-like veggies and what do you do with them?

    • Diane July 29, 2009 at 11:36 am #

Kirsten- Thank you. I think they are some type of squash but I'm not sure. I didn't have time to look them up or use them before heading out for vacation. I'll play with them when I get back.

    Looks great!

    what are duck burgers?

    • Diane July 29, 2009 at 11:37 am #

Kim- Duck burgers are burgers made with ground duck. I use duck breast and my food processor. Worked great. Tasted amazing. You should give it a try. I'm not a huge fan of duck and really have not eaten it very often as an entree but burger style I'll try just about anything.

I've never had duck burgers. I've eaten duck, in fact the night it was shot, we've cooked it but never a duck burger.

Audrey- The duck burgers are a great way to try duck if someone has not ventured that way. Sounds like you however are a pro. What is your favorite way to cook and eat duck?

I love pesto but only treat myself to it when I go out. Otherwise I think I would be eating it all the time lol What are duck burgers like?

    • Diane July 29, 2009 at 11:41 am #

Becca- I'm curious why you only treat yourself to pesto? Do you usually buy it pre-made from the store to use at home or make it yourself? I like to play around and use different greens and nuts in my pesto. Also, I don't eat cheese so that cuts down on some of the calories. Duck burgers are very juicy and tasty. I'm not a huge fan of duck per say but in a burger I think it rocks!
