Just 4 Nuts Butter My Way

Recently our family has taken a liking to Blue Mountain Organics Better Than Roasted nut butters.  We really like the Just 4 Nuts Butter.  Love the 4 JustFourNuts_8oz name since I’m such a nut.   Well they have been out of it at my local Whole Foods stores and we were having with drawl.  So I decided I would make my own version so we could get a fix.  It’s gluten free, dairy free, soy free and sugar free but not free of great taste.

I used the food processor and in about 5 minutes total I was eating 4 Nuts Butter.  Now as you can see my process is very different than theirs (you need to read their website to see the difference).  But we really like what I created and as you can see I couldn’t even wait to take the photo before I started munching on my gluten free toast.

Here’s my recipe.

Ingredients: 4 nut butter in processor

1 cup raw cashews

1 cup raw pecans

1 cup raw walnuts

1 cup almonds (couldn’t tell if they were raw or not but didn’t care)

2 TB grapeseed oil
Directions:

Put nuts into processor and start.  After a few minutes when they are all chopped up drissel in the oil while it’s still moving.  This helped is stick together and become creamy.  It may have done that on it’s own if I would have waited, but did I mention I’m not patient.  I have a hard time waiting on things.  One more reason I like to cook instead of bake.  This did dry out a little as I kept it in the refrigerator.  I may add in a little more oil next time.

This sounds great Diane! I have made nut butters before with my Champion Juicer, I have also needed to add a little oil. I like the food processor idea though! -A 🙂

Ali- I wish I had a juicer. They sound like you can use them for so many dishes. Maybe it will go on my wish list. Do you use this a lot?

I don't use my juicer much anymore actually. We use our vita-mix for smoothies – just not into juice now that we can vita-mix everything! I do use the juicer to make raw cultured veggies every once in a while though! -A 🙂

Ali- So how is a juicer different than a vita-mix? I'm guessing the vita-mix uses the pulp and all. Is that right?

What a great idea Diane! I've always wondered if you could make nut butter in a food processor but never tried it. Thanks!

Angie- Well there's not much I won't try. It worked well and since the food processor was the tool I had, well that's what I used. Let me know if you give it a try and what nuts you used. Thanks for sharing.

I just discovered this JUST 4 NUTS BUTTER at the local farmers market last week. It is amazing but very expensive for a small quantity. I will definitely try your recipe. THX!

It turned out great! I also put just a little agave syrup in it. So much cheaper to do it yourself!

Katie- That sounds great. How was the texture? I'm wondering if the agave made it a little creamier. I'm going to try that too. Thanks!
