Menu Plan Monday -June 29th

June is quickly coming to a close and it’s starting to feel like summer.  On Wednesday I get my first delivery from my CSA.  I can’t wait to see what veggies I get!

This week we get to celebrate an important holiday in the USA, the 4th of July.  People love to gather, cook out on the grill and light fireworks at night.  I think we’ll do all of that around here.  I’ve not grilled out since last year after getting sick.  Not sure if I just don’t tolerate charcoal or it was something else.  Either way I’m ready to give it a try with my new charcoal from Whole Foods.

As a kid, this was a big deal holiday.  We would have parades around the neighborhood on our bikes or wagons.  We’d decorate our bikes and I’d decorate my pigtails.  Now days in my neighborhood I don’t see parades but they do enjoy their fireworks from the local stand.  What did you do as a kid on the 4th of July?  How did you celebrate?  Are you still doing the same things or is it just another day?  Life can get busy and it can end up that way.  So here is a reminder to me and anyone else, plan on some old fashion fun on the 4th of July.

Have a great week!

Monday – Fried Haddock Sandwiches

Tuesday -Duck Burgers with Asian Slaw

Wednesday -Kielbasa and potato hash

Thursday – Roasted Turkey Breast with sweet potato fritters

Friday– London Broil with veggies from my CSA

Saturday – BBQ chicken, grilled potato wedges and grilled lettuce

Sunday – Dover Sole with lots of veggies

This week’s Secret Ingredient for Friday Foodie Fix is Pork.  Hope you will join in with your recipes.  For more weekly menus check out OrgJunkie.

I just love looking over your menu and seeing unusual things like duck burgers!

I remember parades, but the highlight was always fireworks, still is.

Linda- I can dream up some crazy ideas. I saw a duck burger on a menu once so I'm going to give it a try. Hope it works.

I'm with you on the fireworks. My favorite memory is sitting on the roof of the Chamber of Commerce here in DC and listening to the concert on the Mall and watching the fireworks over the top of the White House. So cool.

    Diane,

Wow, I can’t believe 4th of July is just around the corner! It has been so chilly here that it just doesn’t seem like summer right now!

We always had big celebrations too for this holiday when I was a kid. I remember the neighborhood parades we used to create, very fun!

Looks like you are very organized with your menu plan! Sometimes I do this, but sometimes I just cook with whatever I have and what I am craving! 🙂 -Ali 🙂

Ali- I end up doing a little of both. Menu most nights but when the craving comes I fix it. Maybe we could have a virtual parade on our blogs. Rotating pictures from blog to blog. That would be fun. I hope to be chill'n that day.
