Is it really Spring?  What do you think of when someone says spring?  Spring Break, Spring Cleaning, others?   I’ve already had Spring Break so now I’m on to Spring Cleaning.  I think of this time of year not just about cleaning but clearing out.  Well this year I’m including my freezer on the list of what to clear out.  My goal is to use everything in my freezer that I can.  Getting that cleared out will make it easier to clean out.  I am thankful that I have really gotten into the habit of labeling what I throw into the freezer.  I use masking tape and freezer tape and a sharpie.  What it is, the date and if it’s vegetarian are noted.  This way I can quickly access who can eat it and how long it’s been in there.  Before I started doing this, I would find some things I could not figure out what it was even after thawing.  So, are you interested in joining me with Spring Cleaning your freezer?  If so create your menu and email it to me.  Here is the freezer menu I came up with for April and as always, it’s subject to change.

I'll take the challenge, but I think your freezer has much better stuff in it. It also may take me a week to get the courage and the time to tackle the beast.

Wendy- Yeah, I can't wait to hear what "cool" thing you have in your freezer. So a little confession, I have more than one freezer. -Diane

How did you know I need to clean out my freezer? It needs defrosting actually and I should have done it during cold weather so I could have just placed my food in boxes on the patio. Now I'll have to drag out coolers, etc. UNLESS I follow your idea and cook everthing in a month … but I have too much food do that … food that should last a while, but I can do some cleaning out. I agree that you you have some really good stuff in your freezer!

Shirley- I'll never get to the bottom and eat everything because I keep adding leftovers. But the goal is to get out food that's been in there for more than a month or two. I need to find some pot luck dinners to go to.

Diane, I have the opposite problem-an empty freezer and growing boys who eat everything I make nearly every time! I need to do a huge bake day and get prepared for the month ahead. I've never done it before but I'm getting geared up!

Jessie- Wow, a bake day. You go girl. So far my baking is either my bread machine or my son baking for me. I need to get him interested in a baking day! Now if I could just get him to get more of a variety of food, I could move towards the no leftovers life too. Keep cooking! -Diane
