Friday Foodie Fix- Secret Intredient is Thyme

Friday Foodie Fix

This week’s secret ingredient for Friday Foodie Fix is thyme.  We could all use a little more thyme in our lives.  Thyme is a basic herb that is used in a lot of French cooking.  It is also an integral part of Bouquet Garni.  Thyme is part of the mint family and is a perennial meaning once you plant it, it will come back each year.  I love that.  It’s a very easy herb to grow.  You can use thyme when cooking vegetables, meats, poultry and fish dishes, soups and cream sauces.  It is usually easy to find both fresh and in a jar at the supermarket.  Now here is something to keep in mind.  You should store your herbs in a cool dark place for no more than 6 months.

With this being such a wonderful ingredient I can’t wait to see all the dishes you share today.
