Gluten Free Meals Traveling Through the OC

With the summer over it’s time to get caught up on sharing some fun gluten free things I found on my travels.

We had so many great meals traveling through Orange County California.  Our travels took us to LA where we visited Hollywood and Rodeo Drive then headed to Santa Monica.  We had success with eating out, all gluten free and dairy free and one vegetarian.

Before we made our trip I had visited Karina’s Kitchen blog and through her page of Links found eating out information for the area.  Thanks Karina!

There was not doubt on this trip that we would eat at an In-N-Out Burger for our lunch.  They’re famous for their burgers and fries.  3 out of 4 of us obsess over burgers and fries.  There just happened to be one down the street from Hollywood High School that caught our eye.    In-N-Out has a dedicated fryer for their french fries so we knew that would work.  How great is that!  I ordered a burger in lettuce and mooched some of my husband’s fries.  The first burger did come out with sauce but they got me another clean burger in just a short time.  It was really juicy and delicious.

However my vegetarian gluten free son still needed lunch.  As we drove on we came to a Whole Foods.  Jackpot.  Our plan was to go in and grab him some lunch and for me to find some Masa to make pupusas back at our rental.  He did get a great lunch and dessert.

While we were shopping we found Paul King and a table of desserts.  He was there sampling his cakes and cookies from his business, Tia’s Bakery.  Tia’s Bakery makes gluten free, sugar free, grain free and vegan treats.  He had on hand a cookie, chocolate brownies and a strawberry shortcake.  I of course sampled every one that I could eat.  They were amazing.  I  really wish they were sold where I live.  I’m going to have to ask my local Whole Foods markets to start selling these products.

Since our visit, Tia’s Bakery is now making Vegan Truffles and Oatmeal Raisin Cookies.  Paul sent me a picture of the cookies.  I wish he would have sent me the cookies.

Paul, if you’re reading this let us know how we can get our hands on these delicious desserts in VA, please!  I’m not sure if there are any locations to purchase the products in San Fransisco but if there are I’m loading up my suitcase at the end of the month!

If you have these products in your local store make sure you give them a try.

Well school starts today so summer travels are over but I haven’t shared everything yet.  More to come.

It’s Wednesday so head over to the Gluten Free Homemaker for What Can I Eat That’s Gluten Free.
