Gluten Free Appetite for Awareness in Philadelphia – September 30

NFCA Philly 09

What an exciting event for those living gluten free.  Appetite for Awareness will take place on September 30th at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia. The NFCA– National Foundation for Celiac Awareness does an amazing job with these events.  I love attending the one held in the Washington DC area.  This event in Philadelphia is on a grander scale and I wish my calendar wasn’t booked or I would drive from DC to Philly to attend.

appetite for awareness The NFCA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness and funding for celiac disease that will advance research, education and screening amongst medical professionals, children, and adults on a gluten free diet.

The evening will start with a VIP reception 5:30-7:00pm.  At the reception you can congratulate their honorees, John Binswanger and his Family and enjoy personal face-time with the evening chefs who include Jose Garces, Marcie Turney and Mark Vetri.

The main event starts at 7:00pm and runs until 9:30pm.  There will be over 50 vendors providing free samples, coupons and tastings of a wide range of gluten free flours, baked goods, snacks, pre-packaged meals, drinks and more!  You can also sample delicious dishes from 25 top Philadelphia-area restaurants including the eight main competitors. You’ll also get a vote as the NFCA  presents the 2009 People’s Choice Award.

There is still time to buy tickets.  If you are anywhere in the vicinity of this event and you live gluten free or love someone who does, go to this event. Then come back and tell me what a great time you had and what you had to eat.
