Friday Foodie Fix -Shrimp

Friday Foodie Fix

Friday Foodie Fix

This week’s Secret Ingredient for Friday Foodie Fix is Shrimp!  I’m a huge fan of shrimp and I’m not the only one.  Shirley at Gluten Free Easily is too.  Shrimp is an excellent source of
protein. They are a rich source of selenium, phosphorus, iron, copper,
magnesium and zinc. It also has good amount of potassium, manganese,
calcium and sodium. Shrimp are rich in
Vitamin D, B12, choline and niacin. It also has good amount of Vitamin
B6, E and A with small amount of Vitamin C, pantothenic acid, thiamin,
folate and riboflavin. To top it off 100g of shrimp have 106 calories.

I’m always looking for that final answer of what can it help prevent.  Shrimp is useful in
protection against Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, heart arrhythmia and
high blood pressure. Consumption of shrimp reduces depression and
keeps the mood fresh.  Oh and they cook up fast so what more could you ask for.

Here are a few of my favorite shrimp recipes:

Pesto Shrimp on Polenta Portobellos

Shrimp Tostados

Swicy Shrimp & Mango with Papaya Corn Salsa

Shallot Pepper Shrimp

Cioppino

I hope you will add your shrimp recipes here with Mr. Linky.  For all of the rules check out the Friday Foodie Fix page in the navigation bar at the top of this blog.

Next week’s Secret Ingredient is ……Quinoa!
