The weather here is very cold and icy so I decided tonight to curl up on the couch and watch Chocolat, the movie where I first fell in love with Johnny Depp. He and Juliette Binoche are two of my favorite actors. This wonderfully decadent movie is full of thick, delicious looking chocolate. My favorite being the hot chocolate and those special beans she creates. The thick creamy velvet chocolate slowly poured into the cups with a pinch of chili pepper and a dollop of whip cream just calls to me. So I just had to make myself a cup. However living dairy free, gluten free and sugar free I would have to create a different recipe.
I reached for my beautiful new mug I had received as a gift and poured in some unsweetened almond milk. To this I added 3 teaspoons of organic cocoa powder, 1 tsp of vanilla and 1 tsp agave. I heated it in the microwave and stirred until I could no longer see or feel any lumps of chocolate. To top it off, a pinch of chili pepper to stir the senses.
It was wonderful. The warm chocolate was enveloping and the chili pepper enticing. Johnny and I enjoyed our hot chocolate together only separated by my TV screen.
If you have not seen this movie I highly recommend it but be warned, you too will desire many more things while watching.
