De in D.C. That sounds like a great meal. I'll have to give that one a try. I hope you had fun calculating how much money you are saving by using all of your food and making it from scraps. Way to go!

I'm sure our dinner tonight counted. Lentils and rice, $3.75 for the bag of lentils, though I only used half. $9 or so for the big bag of rice, of which I used 4 cups (so maybe $1 worth). Half an onion, 1/3 head of garlic, 1/2 stick of butter, Qt. of boxed vegetable stock (usually use my own, but was out), can of tomatoes, 2 cups pumpkin puree from the garden, and a buttload of spices, but I buy whole in bulk and grind my own, so probably less than $.25 worth. I'm guesstimating the total to be around $5.75, but we are seriously getting 3 meals out of what I made plus leftovers for lunches. If I'd had any homemade veggie stock, that'd knock the price by about $1.75 since I make stock by saving and freezing veggie scraps (peelings, ends, etc).
